If you didn’t see it, Chris Neil decided to pull a Scott Walker and sucker punch Seidenberg at the end of the third period.
Here’s the video:
Lame sauce. Neil somehow got off with only fighting major and a roughing minor. No instigator. Not sure if the refs even know what an instigator is anymore. We sure as hell don’t. It’s one of those penalties that appear when a ref hasn’t been laid in a while.
Bruins extra spare-part and former teammate of Chris Neil, Brian McGratten did not take lightly to Neil’s scuffing. Per Boston.com:
“I heard about it. That’s typical Chris Neil. I had to protect that guy for three years when I was there. He’d do that and I’d have to fight all his battles for him the next time we’d play a team after he’d do something stupid like that. It doesn’t surprise me.
That’s the way he does it. He’ll do something where he knows he’ll get kicked out of the game and won’t have to come back and fight anybody. I’ve been around him long enough to know he does that. Then I’m the one who usually has to fight his battles the next time. It’s typical.”
Tough words from a guy hasn’t seen a regular season NHL game this year. Not sure if he’s hoping Julien will toss him in the line-up so he can enact some ice justice, but it can’t hurt his chances. We wouldn’t mind seeing that bout either.
Neil has quite the fan club.
Murph had this tweet:
And, of course, there’s always Lucic.
Either way. Mark your calendars and get your tix, ’cause Nov 13th is gonna be wild.
