This Aint No Power Outage. BRUINS WIN!

Oh man, what a game huh. I’ll be honest, when Stamkos netted his first goal I thought it was going to be “one of those nights” where Boston either A) works their ass off and gets no breaks or B) doesn’t show up. Luckily for me and everyone else who was watching the game, it was neither of those situations. Boston played a damn good hockey game last night. In fact, you could say that they looked like the bWo! No fucking way, right?

But there they were in all of their glory. The boys were up for it, apparently. And who sparked the whole damn thing?

thornton
Yeah you damn right! Thornton scored his 5th goal of the season last night, tied the game up early in the first period and then basically became the BAMF we all know he is. Sure, one could make the argument that Chara really started the whole thing. I guess you could also say that Chara dangled his way through the Tampa Bay defense like they were children who were just learning how to skate. You could also say that it was Chara’s initial shot that caused Thornton’s scoring opportunity.

Thornton son. Goals on, punches faces off.

Alright, let’s get all up in this recaps purdy little brown eye..

Zdeno Chara. So last night the Bruins had a ceremony to acknowledge Chara playing in 1,000 games. It was a good tribute for a guy who definitely plays his heart out every night. He’s a staple of the Bruins team, he’s a pillar in the community (insert tall pun) and he’s everything that embodies what being a Boston Bruin is. With that said, how fucking awkward are these ceremonies? Hockey players aren’t meant to address crowds and most of the time it’s painfully obvious. It still wasn’t as bad as the opening game ceremonies. Holy shit, was that terrible. If you missed the beginning of the game or were watching on NBC Sports Network (which I heard didn’t show much of the ceremony), I’m going to post both the video tribute (first) and then the NESN broadcast of the ceremony (second).

So congrats to Big Z on the accomplishment. I hope to one day see him play in his 1,500th game.

Shawn Thornton. Get your rain coats on people because it’s going to be a bukkake storm. If you don’t know what bukkake is, look it up but not at work since it’s not work appropriate. Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, Thornton scored his 5th goal of the season. Unfortunately, he didn’t throw any fists and the only thing he killed was Dwayne Roloson’s confidence but we don’t care. We’ve said it time and time again, Shawn Thornton is the 3rd greatest player the NHL has ever seen, behind Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux. Even then, it’s a close race.

The dude can score, fight, drink wine, get his hair cut for children and probably grills up a mean steak. Is there anything he can’t do?

The Third Line. Once again the third line steps up their game. Ever since Brian Rolston came on board, this line has been on fucking fire. Here’s how Rolston, Kelly and Pouliot’s March breaks down:

Brian Rolston: 15GP, 3G, 10A, 13P, +7 (the only month this year he’s a plus, btw), 1PPG, 2PPA, 1GWG
Chris Kelly: 15GP, 4G, 4A, 8P, +9, 2GWG
Beniot Pouliot: 12GP, 5G, 7A, 12P, +8, 1GWG

Those are some pretty good stats. Pouliot has been a point per game player in March. Rolston is almost there. All three players are posting a high number in the plus/minus category. The line has caught fire at the best possible time. If Boston is able to keep that line clicking, as well as the second line (that produced points last night as well) and get the first line to wake up, this team is going to be dangerous when the playoffs come rolling around like Bruce Boudreau in a puddle of gravy.

Rich Peverley. Good to see him put pucks in the net, even if it was an ENG.

Welcome back to JACK EDWARDS FANTASY HOUR!

Last night Jack was talking some madness about Stamkos riding Seguin like a pony. I forget the actual quote, but how can you forget a line like that?

ponyOh Jack, never change.

Negatives
Stamkos. He’s good and it blows. I wish we had playoff Stamkos back. Scored 54 and 55 last night. Very possible he hits 60 goals this season. The last player to score 60+ goals in a season was Alexander Cavechkin when he scored 67 in the 2007-2008 season.

Bruins Power Play. Bruins were 0-5 on the power play last night. Yikes. That’s not a good sign at all.

LingeringQuestions
- When Stamkos scores 60 goals, will he putt his playoff woes away in May?

- Will NESN stop making me hate “Bear and the Gang”? How many fucking advertisements are they going to show us? We get it, it’s hilarious.

- Why won’t anyone help us out with the Stamkos/Seguin quote?

SUCK IT TAMPA
