If you're looking for some Red Sox stuff, keep it moving. You won't find it here.
Last night the Bruins were in Pittsburgh, playing their asses off but eventually losing 3-2. Hey, Pittsburgh is a good, elite NHL team. What else can you say? There needs to be some expectations tonight for the game vs the Ducks. The Bruins are playing the second of a back-to-back. Last week, when they did that against San Jose they looked slow and tired, but somehow beat the Sharks on some last minute David Krejci magic.
Also, there's no Teemu Selanne thanks to Luke Schenn, which has people in a tizzy because this is the only time he'll be in Boston on his 4 year farewell NHL tour.
Let's not get it twisted though, the Ducks are a good hockey team. They are also getting Dustin Penner back so insert whatever breakfast joke you want to now because that's the hip thing to do. But seriously, the Ducks are an offensive machine – they've scored 42 goals so far this season (which would rank them 2nd in Goals For in the East), but then can't really keep them out of the net.
Their goal differencial is +9 which isn't overly fantastic for a team is currently in third place in the Western Conference. Honestly, you have to wonder how Anaheim is even doing this considering Jonas Hiller has been adequate, at best, in net for them. Hiller currently has a 2.56 GAA and a SV% of .913, yet he has 5 wins on the season.
Also, since it Halloween – Anaheim should bust these bad boys out:
Give us the Mighty Duck, dammit! We deserve it.
So Ryan Spooner was called up from Providence today. Not sure why, but a lot of people are speculating that Jordan Caron hurt himself in that fight from last night. Here's the fight you missed it:
Milan Lucic – David Krejci – Jarome Iginla
Reilly Smith – Patrice Bergeron – Brad Marchand
Carl Söderberg – Chris Kelly – Ryan Spooner
Shawn Thornton – Gregory Campbell – Dan Paille
Zdeno Chara – Johnny Boychuk
Dennis Seidenberg – Dougie Hamilton
Torey Krug – Adam McQuaid
