Montreal School Cancels Jersey Day Because Girl Wanted to Wear a Bobby Orr Shirt

An elementary school in the Montreal area has canceled their “Habs Jersey Day” because an 11-year-old girl wanted to show up wearing a Bobby Orr Bruins shirt, according to the CBC.

“She’s been a Boston Bruins fan all her life, so she kinda felt really bad. She felt kind of excluded from the school,” Tony Pasquale (the girls’ dad) told CBC News.

Last “Habs Jersey Day” the girl was asked to remove her Orr shirt which is a really awkward thing to ask an 11-year-old girl.

You’ll be surprised to learn that the school spokesman Mike Cohen backs the school 100%.

“We don’t think it’s prudent for a student to wear a Boston Bruins jersey in a school during this very intensive playoff play,” Cohen said.

“At this stage in the game, with the Canadiens leading the series 2-1, why ignite things, why create a controversy,” he added.

Props for the Habs ignite joke, though, Mr. Spokesman. You made it so we didn’t have to.
